You Covered Me

You Covered Me
By Mike Palmer , 12/31/04, updated 12/23/05

When I thought I knew so much,
When I said, “it is enough to know what I know.”
When I boasted with the best, to stand above the rest,
You could have struck me to me knees,
Shattered all my pride, in front of all my peers

What I can’t comprehend,
And what I don’t understand is…
Why You covered me, why did you cover me;
On my pias horse and self exalted, you found me;
By Your wondrous grace and selfless love you won me,
And now you cover me

Without mind games, nor clever plot,
No bait and switch, no power trip,
No shame on me, nor fear of force, you won me.

As I marched to my conviction,
For my acts of indiscretion,
You took my place and covered me.
